Presence Over Perfection
My name is Keila Lainez, a Dominican–Honduran American photographer based in the Kansas City and Johnson County area. I started photography in 2019 as a hobby, never imagining that the images I created would one day become the foundation of a brand built on presence, style, and human connection.
What drew people to my work from the beginning wasn’t perfect lighting — it was emotion. Genuine joy. Authentic expression. Real stories.
That is still the heart of everything I create.
I believe photography is not about perfection — it’s about presence.
K&L Photography exists to tell stories through imagery that feels bold, expressive, and elevated. I use fashion-inspired elements not as a label, but as a language — a way to help everyday people feel seen, confident, and valued.

My Time at YES
Where My Vision Expanded
My journey in photography has been shaped by mentorship under O.J. Rhone, Executive Director of Youth Excited About Sports (Y.E.S.), founder of Rhone Photography for over 20 years, and one of the top photographers in the nation. Working alongside him gave me hands-on experience in every area of photography — sports, events, portraits, weddings, and commercial work — and refined the artistic perspective I carry today.
At Y.E.S., I learned more than technique.
I learned leadership, purpose, and the power of visibility.
Through supporting youth programs and capturing the stories of young athletes, I saw how photography can build confidence, identity, and community. Y.E.S. taught me to create with intention, to lead with compassion, and to use my work as a form of empowerment.
Those lessons are woven into K&L Photography.
They are the foundation of my belief that photography isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence.
